What changed in 2026

Since August 2, 2026, the EU AI Act requires deepfakes shown to the public to be labeled. In the US, the FTC treats AI influencers like real ones. So a sponsored post with realistic AI needs two labels: one for the ad and one for the AI.

In California and New York, a deal for an actor’s digital copy may not hold up unless it lists each use and the actor had a lawyer or union rep. The federal NO FAKES Act passed a Senate committee in June 2026 but is not law yet.

Our AI templates follow these rules, and we update them when the rules change.
