How the templates are written
Our team writes the templates based on current US law. That includes state freelance laws, FTC ad rules, state laws on digital copies of people and, where it matters, the EU AI Act. A lawyer did not write or review them, and we don’t pretend otherwise. We would rather tell you plainly than put a badge on the page.
Every clause has a note that says what it does, what fair looks like and what people usually negotiate. Use the notes to make your own choices, or take a clear draft to your own lawyer.
How we keep them current
When a law or platform rule changes, we update the clauses and templates it affects. Every change goes on our public updates page. If you bought a template that changed, the new files show up in your account and we email you, for 12 months after you buy.
What we don’t do
We don’t give legal advice, review your contract or tell you which template fits your situation. For deals with real money or risk, have a lawyer in your state check the final version.
Questions
Common questions
Is this legal advice?
No. Creator Clause sells contract templates with plain-English notes. We are not a law firm, and buying a template does not create an attorney-client relationship. Our templates are written by our team based on current US law and are not reviewed by an attorney. For deals with real money or risk, have a lawyer in your state review the final version.
What files do I get?
Every template comes as a clean Word file to send, an annotated Word file with a note next to every clause, and a print PDF you can fill in by hand. Word files open in Google Docs and Pages too.
Can I use these outside the US?
They are written for US law. Many creators in the UK, Canada and Australia use them as a starting point, but local rules can differ.
What if the law changes after I buy?
You get free updates for 12 months. When a template you bought changes, the new files appear in your account and we email you.
Can I edit the templates?
Yes. Edit them as much as you need for your own deals, or for your clients if you are a manager or agency. You may not resell or share the templates themselves.
