Why it matters
Crew deal memos fail on the details: how long a day is, when overtime starts, who pays for gear. Writing it down before the shoot avoids arguments on set and late invoices after.
How it usually reads
Day rate, overtime, meal breaks, travel days and kit fees for crew.
What fair looks like
- A day rate for a fixed number of hours, usually 10 or 12.
- Overtime at 1.5 times after the day, and 2 times after 12 hours.
- A meal break or meal at least every 6 hours.
- Kit or box rental paid separately from labor.
- Payment within 30 days.
