How much to charge for usage rights and whitelisting

Last reviewed October 30, 2026

There is no official rate card for usage rights. What exists are starting points that many creators and agencies use, which you adjust for your niche, audience and how badly the brand wants the content.

Starting points

Organic reposts on the brand’s accounts often start at 10 to 20 percent of your content fee for each 30 days. Paid ads, whitelisting and Spark Ads often start at 20 to 35 percent per 30 days, because the brand is putting money behind your face. Long terms usually get a lower monthly rate after the first few months.

Exclusivity

Exclusivity means turning down other brands. Price it per month and per category: a short list of named competitors costs less than a whole category.

Perpetual use

Some creators accept perpetual organic reposts for a higher fee. Perpetual paid use is rarely worth it. A common alternative is 12 months with a renewal price.

Put it in the contract

Write the term and fee in the contract, not only in email, and add a charge for ads that keep running after the term. That last line is what stops a 30-day license from quietly becoming a year.
