What to put in a UGC contract

Last reviewed October 30, 2026

In a UGC deal you make videos or photos that the brand posts on its own channels and ads. You are paid for content, not reach. That changes what the contract needs to cover.

The license is the deal

Decide where the brand can use the content, for how long and whether paid ads are included. A license for organic use over 90 days is very different from exclusive paid use for a year, and the price should show it.

Raw footage

Raw files let a brand cut your work into many new ads. Many UGC creators charge separately for raw footage or include it only in higher packages.

Deliverables and revisions

List the number of videos, length, format and delivery date, plus how many revision rounds are included. Vague deliverables lead to endless changes.

Portfolio rights

Keep the right to show the work in your portfolio after the brand publishes it. New clients want to see real examples.
