Ending the Engagement

How you or your contractor can end the work, and what gets handed over.

Why it matters

Freelance relationships end. A clean exit clause sets the notice period, pays for finished work, and makes sure you get your files and access back.

How it usually reads

Either party may end this Agreement with [NOTICE_DAYS] days' written notice.

What fair looks like

  • A short notice period, often 14 days, for either side.
  • Payment for work completed up to the end date.
  • Delivery of all files, including project files, on the way out.
